NABIHEAL at the Science Garden Festival in Graz

NABIHEAL’s colleagues of BNN took part in the Science Garden Festival in Graz from 23 to 25 September 2026, bringing the science behind advanced wound healing closer to young visitors, families and curious minds.

Visitors had the opportunity to discover how researchers in NABIHEAL are developing innovative antimicrobial biomaterials for complex wound healing, including advanced wound dressings designed to help prevent infections and support the body’s natural healing process.

A special hands-on activity introduced visitors to #bacterial cellulose, one of the fascinating materials explored in the context of #advanced biomaterials, developed by our partner Selestina Gorgieva from the university of Maribor. Participants could see and touch the material and learn how microorganisms can produce cellulose from renewable resources — including agricultural by-products such as grape residues.

Through playful experiments and direct interaction with the materials, complex research became something visitors could see, touch and experience.

The #sciencegardenfestival was a great opportunity to share NABIHEAL’s research with the next generation and show how science and innovative materials can contribute to better healthcare in the future.
