Our institution

The University of Granada (UGR) is the 4th highest-ranked in Spain according to the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities 2019. It has obtained 67 projects in the last two Framework Programmes and 98 projects for H2020. This international standing was the reason behind the success of our BioTic excellence initiative.

The Health Sciences Technology Park houses the Faculty of Medicine, part of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada, the Centre for Biomedical Research and the Biofabrication and 3D (bio)printing Singular Laboratory (BioFab i3D Lab). The BioFabi3D Lab aims to develop innovative biofabrication approaches for regenerative medicine and cancer, providing advanced biomanufacturing technologies for biomimetic tissues, including 3D bioprinting, the development of bioreactors for the maturation of bioprinted tissues, and new tumor and organ-on-a-chip systems.

Our role in NABIHEAL

The UGR participates as a developer and producer of biomaterials with wound-healing properties. Specifically, the UGR collaborates in four WPs: WP1 Design and optimization of multifunctional biomaterials; WP2 Physicochemical characterization tools and definition of the Critical Quality Attributes (CQA); WP3 Efficacy evaluation (in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo); and WP8 Dissemination, Communication and Stakeholder involvement.
